Well, there was a lot of drama around the team result in the Big 12 tournament, much more than in the Big 10 tournament. Going into the last two finals matches, OU was leading OSU in the team score by 124 to 120. At 197, 4-seed freshman AJ Ferrari of OSU wrestled 2-seed sophomore Stephen Buchannan of Wyoming. (Wyoming had four in the finals compared to three for OU and OSU, but the Wyoming loss at 165 had left them fighting Iowa State for 3rd place team.) If Ferrari could have gotten a major, OSU would win outright. But he only won a 13-8 decision, and OU and OSU became conference co-champs with 124 each. Some close matches could have changed this result. At 149, OSU's Boo Lewallen decisioned OU's Mitch Moore 7-6.
Iowa State finished third over Wyoming, 117.5 to 105.5, after Wyoming lost all four of their finals matches.
There were no bonus point wins in the finals. The biggest surprise for me was at 133, where OSU's 1-seed Daton Fix only got a 6-1 decision over OU's unseeded Tony Madrigal. Fix had had two majors and a tech fall against his seeded opponents.
