« on: April 14, 2021, 08:37:14 PM »

Jordan Oliver cuts his own destiny.  here a few more to add to the list once cancelled regional tournamenta are completed, but here is who will be there at 65K.

Top 2 earn bids to the Olympics, correct?

Who are the toughest match-ups for Oliver, and does he have any past H2H matches against the field? The Georgian is the most decorated wrestler for sure. But most of the Georgian’s accomplishments are down at 57/55kg many years ago. I’m not sure if he’s the same guy all the way up at 65kg.

He's 33, but I guess Oliver ain't much younger. Really hope Oliver pulls it off then brings home a medal. He is very good when he's firing on all cylinders.

He just has to be on.   Those guys have accomplishments but most are from the past.  So I think he stands a fairly good chance of it.

World Cup Gold in 2020 seems to say he's not done yet.

Hey, that guy has a world bronze from 2019.  Doesn't that qualify his country for  the Olympics?  Something doesn't add up.  Bronze for JB and KS in 2019 qualified those weights for the US.

Think it was up at 70kg, so 65kg is not qualified.

Ah ok.  that makes sense then.  He'll be tough for sure then.  But because he was in a non olympic weight, perhaps the competition was not as fierce.  JO will have to bring his A game for sure, that's just a given.

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrestling_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Qualification

Only Iran has all weights in FS qualified.  Not even Russia has that, with 125kg not qualified.  Kind of interesting.

For all 18 weights the following is what that website shows.

China 11
Cuba 12
Iran 11
Japan 10
Kazakhstan 11
Russia (ROC) 13
Tunisia 10
USA 15

So we have the most qualified over all the disciplines.  Again interesting.
