Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather
« on: May 24, 2021, 05:10:21 PM »
What are the odds that Paul maintains whatever brainpower he currently has?

I'd say odds are pretty good.  But I think he'll get clocked.

I think they will stop it fairly quickly when he goes down.

Jean Pascal, who Logan has been training with full time, failed his drug test yesterday. Three different steroids.

Since Mayweather vs. Paul is not a sanctioned boxing match (it's just an exhibition), is it safe to assume they are not being tested?

Probably.  I doubt Mayweather is juicing but I could see Paul doing it.  Would it really help him if he did?  I mean a rock fist in the face when you are not used to it, can be quite jarring.  I think Paul is lucky if he lasts 1 round.  But I think he'll last 2.

— No judges
— No official winner read
— Knockouts legal
— KO up to ref discretion
— No headgear
— 12 oz. gloves
— Eight 3-minute rounds

8 three minute rounds is pretty brutal.

12 oz gloves, I don't know if those are big or small.  I don't think it will matter to Paul.  He will go down after a few hits from Mayweather

No judges and no official winner read.  So the winner will be by KO.  No other way to know who won.  But it is an exhibition with high dollar amounts so maybe it doesn't matter.

12oz gloves are big for professional fighters.  They are usually for sparring or for amateur matches.  Normally, the lighter weights fight with 8oz gloves and those in the middle to upper weights fight at 10oz or 12 oz.

I don't think Floyd has fought with such large gloves before, but I could be wrong.

It will not effect punching power, but will provide a boxer with a history of hurting his hands an extra bit of protection (Floyd).

This match-up is still not sanctioned. So, even if there is a legit KO, there still will be no winner or loser declared.  Rather, the exhibition will end.

Thanks for the info.  I have heard of 8 oz gloves being used but didn't know what was normal.  Thanks for that.

I understand.  No winner declared.  But a KO will tell everyone who the winner is.   Will the ref countdown the KO, or not even?  I don't think Mayweather will be in a generous mood.  And I don't think he has any interest in furthering the youtube career of Paul.  I think he will be out to knock him out.  I have visions of the exhibition between Apollo Creed and the Drago.  Didn't end well.  "If he dies he dies."   Ok I don't think it will be that drastic but I don't think Mayweather is going to hold back.

12 oz is standard for pros 152 pounds and up.  Lower weights and women use 10 oz

But there are exceptions....Mayweather v McGregor.....8 oz gloves

Well I was wrong.  I figured 2nd round.  But Mayweather wanted to give the fans what they paid for and so he pummeled Paul but allowed him to go the distance.  I did not see the fight, but I have seen a few highlights and I still feel Floyd had the power and precision to knock out Paul if he wanted to at any point.

Paul -  $250,000 base salary, plus 10 percent of pay-per-view shares.
Mayweather - $10 million in base salary and 50 percent pay-per-view shares

The expected (more like hoping) PPV gate - $200,000,000 @$49.95 per TV

Yeah, Mayweather tagged him a few times and Paul fell all over him to limit the damage.  Mayweather very well may have been holding him up.  We'll see if Logan Paul wants to do this again after the punishment he received.

My son said, "I didn't even pay to watch and I want my money back!!"

If the PPV gate was close to the prediction, Paul says he'll retire from everything.  He'd have $20 mil in his pocket.  Mayweather would pocket close to $50 mil for an exhibition no less.
