Would the Big 12 allow OU to keep wrestling as an associate member?
Imagine the good that could be done, if people were less worried about their differences, and more worried about doing good for everyone.

I think B12 has enough members to continue to qualify for a conference championship and they wouldn't need OU.  It may well be the thread that keeps OU from leaving.  Texas.....they probably want to control the UT network for football.  That contract is larger than the UT share of the B12 TV  contracts.

Does SEC have wrestling?  I don't think so.  So OU would have to do something to maintain their dominance in wrestling.   :o

The SEC does have a ten year, $3 billion TV deal that may need to be renegotiated if the conference adds new members.  (I don't think that deal includes the SEC network.)  The Orlando Sentinel said the conference had distributed over $50 million to each school last year.  You would think that with that kind of money they could afford to have wrestling programs.

By the way, they also said that the Alabama quarterback already has over a million dollars in NIL agreements, and he hasn't started a game yet!  This is considered amateur athletics?!?

Not anymore.  For the select few that is.

Quote from: U Texas, Oklahoma U.

The University of Oklahoma and The University of Texas at Austin notified the Big 12 Athletic Conference today that they will not be renewing their grants of media rights following expiration in June 2025,

It's a done deal with the SEC, just a matter of which year it happens.  My guess UT and OU will negotiate a contract settlement and buyout 2 or 3 years.
