Michigan Almost Pulled it Off
« on: March 07, 2022, 06:51:07 AM »
Came ! that ! close to knocking Penn State off the top of the podium. UM had the lead the entire tournament up until the 285 final.  It still had a shot but UMs Parris had to pin PSUs Kerklivet  Kerklivet won again. Big Amine knocks off returning champ Brooks and little Amine almost knocked off Marinelli.

....and what's with Iowa MFFing the Eireman / 141 and Cassioppi / 285 finals, and Kemmerer/174 semi ?

Looks like Brands doesn't give a rats ass about the Big Ten unless they are sure to win it.

???

I couldn't watch it, but the results on trackwrestling showed Michigan beating Penn State 143 - 141.5.

Doesn't seem to care about NCAA championships either. IA is on a definite decline.

I'm not sure where you are getting the idea that Penn State won.  Numerous websites are showing Penn State lost by 1 1/2 points to Michigan yesterday.

Yeah totally botched that one.  Was watching BTN and following on trackwrestling.  After 197 Track had Penn State up by 1.5 points and the BTN announcer said Parris need a pin to win the dual with 1 placement point and 2 points for the fall.  Track also had little Amine beating Marinelli in the brackets.  I never checked back this AM.

WI's top wrestlers did very well. Took a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd. All three of those guys will be back next year and one was a true freshman. Unfortunately, their other guys generally underperformed.

On the (lack of) recruiting front, three WI natives took 1st in the Big 12 wrestling tournament, plus a runner-up.

165: O'Toole, MO (1st)
174: Mocco, MO (2nd)
184: Keckeisen, N. IA (1st)
197) Buchanen, WY (1st)

Is there ANY subject out there that you are not totally clueless about?  iowa is not on the decline..  They have been overwhelmingly plagued with injuries.   (Lee, Desanto, Eirmann, Murin, Kemmerer, Assad, and Warner)

Every team has injuries. Excuses are for losers. BTW, Assad lost to a HS kid this year so let's especially stop making excuses for him. The Pennsylvania Hawkeyes' best days are behind them. Let's just put it that way.

I never made excuses for anybody.  You claimed Iowa was in decline even though their team score was right there with Michigan and PSU.  Injuries are always a factor.  You not realizing it is predictable.

Injuries are part of the sport. So is battling through them and training smart to minimize them.EVERY team deals w them.

The decline of the Pennsylvania Hawkeyes was obvious this year and will continue next year. Recruiting is waning. Hard to get top talent consistently when you're relying 95% on out of state talent.
