Thanks for providing the brackets.  So let's say everyone wrestled to seed.  No bonus points.  Just points for win and placement.  Who would be the team champs?

Honestly, I don't have time for the math, but it would be interesting to see.

I have lots of free time on my hands (been retired for more than 12 years) but I don't have that much free time on my hands if you get my drift.

All I know for sure is the 165 lbs bracket is going to be an all-out "war".

1. Wick - 17-0

2.  O'Toole - 20-0

3. Marinelli - 20-1

4. Hamiti 24-2

5. Griffith - 16-4 (3 losses to Wick)

6. Amine - 16-5

7. Kharchla - 21-3 (how is he a 7 seed?)

8.Conigliaro - 19-4

9. Hall - 25-3

10. Wentzel - 16-5

11. Olejnik - 24-4

12. Hartman - 27-4

7. Kharchla - 21-3 (how is he a 7 seed?)

H2H losses to Hamiti (4), Griffith (5), and Amine (6). He's 1-1 on the season against Amine, but Amine beat him at B1Gs and outplaced him. He's 1-0 against Marinelli (3), but Marinelli won B1Gs and beat Hamiti + Amine. Wick and O'Toole are the clear 1/2 seeds via their perfect records. I think Kharchla's seed is fair, but I do think he probably has a strong case to be swapped with Amine as Amine has some bad losses (Bubba Wilson and Berge).

Kharchla's likely path to the finals:
R16: vs. returning runner-up Wentzel
QF: vs. returning 3rd place/2 seed O'Toole
SF: vs. Amine/Marinelli winner
F: vs. Wick or whoever comes out on the topside

I agree that 165 will be very fun.

I'd say the most wrestlers could realistically win 165, by far. I'll be,watching this one the most. 3 of the top guys have ties to WI: Wick, O'Toole and Hamiti.

Anthony Valencia (ASU) - what a difference a year makes, No. 2 seed in 2021 (8th).  The No 18 seed in 2022.

Did the math.  If everyone wrestles to seed and no bonus points the following will happen.  Top 10 as follows:

PSU   112.5
Mich   98
Iowa   78
ASU   66.5
NCST   55
Cor           37
WIS   35
OHST   33.5
OKST   31.5
VT           28.5

So with some big bonus points, Mich could squeeze out PSU.  However, PSU is known for scoring bonus points so I don't think Mich can catch up.   If everyone wrestles to seed of course.  It will be fun to see for sure.

Suriano / UM will have the toughest bout to hold his seed.  Close behind is Amine/UM holding #1 against Brooks.

I'd think the top three or four are right.  After that who knows?

I agree.  And lots of stuff happens, who knows PSU may just fall apart.  It has happened before.

After the first session you got some of them right.  But Cornell is way down at # 15 after session # 1.

Penn State # 1 at 15.5 points

Iowa # 2 at 14.5 points

Michigan # 3 at 12.5 points

Arizona State # 4 at 11.5 points

Northern Iowa and NC State tied at # 5 with 11 points each

Nebraska # 7 with 10 points

Oregon State # 8 with 9 points

Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech tied for # 9 with 8 points each

Then there are four teams tied for # 11 with 7 points (Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Purdue and Wisconsin)

It's pretty remarkable (IMO) that Arizona State is fourth after the first session considering they only qualified 7 guys total and Norfleet lost his opening round match in SV OT 5-3.

The five PAC 12 teams that are competing finished the first round as follows:

# 4 - Arizona State - 12.5 points (Thanks in part to Cohlton Schultz winning by FALL in his first match)

# 8 - Oregon State - 9 points

# 18 - Stanford - 5.5 points

# 24 - Cal Poly - 4 points

# Tied for 58 - CS Bakersfield - 0 points

Arizona State's guys won 2 matches by Major Decision, one match by Tech Fall, one match by Fall and two matches by Decision.

Well so much for PSU not getting bonus points.   They are doing quite well.

So far as I can see, there weren't any 1st session surprises for the top 4 seeds.  All won their bouts.

197 - #2 had a close 2-0 win over #31

157 - #2 had a close 6-2 win over #31.

So a couple of close calls but all 4 top seeds in each weight moved forward.
