Stanford's starter at 125 lbs enters the transfer portal

That being Logan Ashton.  I'm unclear as to what is happening at Stanford under Rob Koll but Ashton is the 2nd starter to have entered the transfer portal - Real Woods being the first this year.

As a RS Sophomore - during the 2021-2022 season - Ashton went 7-7 vs Division I opponents and he qualified for the 2022 NCAA tournament where he went 1-2 with a 2-0 win over Patrick McCormick of Virginia and a MD loss to Nick Surianno of Michigan and a 3-1 loss to Drew Hildebrandt of Penn State.

However Ashton is still listed on the Stanford roster.

That's very interesting.  He's a RS Sophomore?   Something's going on.

That is how he was listed for the last season on the Stanford team roster:

https://gostanford.com/sports/wrestling/roster/logan-ashton/18038

But obviously he was brought in to Stanford by the former coaching staff (Jason Boretlli and his assistant coaches).   He was finally given the opportunity to be the starter - after being the backup behind Jackson DiSario prior to the 2022 season - and he ended up doing well enough to qualify for the NCAA tournament and now he's in the transfer portal.

The only non-freshman on the Stanford roster (assuming Ashton transfers elsewhere) is 2022 True Sophomore Suhas Chundi - who Interstat has ranked at # 275 at 125 lbs.   However they did recruit TWO Freshmen for 125 lbs.   One of them being former Cornell commit Nico Provo (who placed 5th twice at the Connecticut State tournament at 113 and 120 lbs in 2019 and 2020 respectively).  The other being Wyatt Richter who placed 5th and 4th at the Ohio State wrestling tournament (both times at 113 lbs in 2021 & 2022).
