According to WrestleStat the following is the projected lineup for Cal Poly for the 2022-2023 season.  I have to wonder tho if this is speculation on their part or do they have an insider at Cal Poly who is telling them that this IS going to be their lineup.  I wonder about that because some of these guys are projected to be moving up not just one weight class but TWO weight classes.  And frankly I find that difficult to believe.

125 - # 45 ranked Antonio Lorenzo - SO - 19-11 record for 2022 season vs. Div. I wrestlers - 2-2 at 2022 PAC 12 tournament - 0-2 at 2022 NCAA tournament

133 - # 120 ranked Abraham Hinrichsen - SO - 12-17 record for 2022 season vs. Div. I wrestlers - 0-3 at 2022 PAC 12 tournament

141 - # 60 ranked Lawrence Saenz - JR - 14-7 record for 2022 season vs Div. I wrestlers - 2-2 at 2022 PAC 12 tournament

149 - # 10 ranked Dominick Demas - SR - Oklahoma transfer - 3-2 record for 2022 at 149 lbs vs Div. I wrestlers

157 - # 26 ranked Luka Wick - RS FR - 7-0 record for 2022 season at 149 lbs vs Div. I wrestlers - Moving up one weight class according to this WrestleState projected lineup for Cal Poly for next season

165 - # 15 ranked Legend Lamer - SO - 13-7 record for 2022 season at 149 lbs vs Div. I wrestlers - Moving up two weight classes according to this WrestleStat projected lineup for Cal Poly for next season.

174 - #  98 ranked Brawley Lamer - SR - 5-14 record for 2022 season at 157 lbs vs Div. I wrestlers - Moving up two weight classes according to this WrestleStat projected lineup for Cal Poly for next season.

184 - # 25 ranked Adam Kemp - JR - 12-6 record for 2022 season at 174 lbs vs. Div. I wrestlers - Moving up one weight class according to this WrestleState projected lineup for Cal Poly for next season

197 - # 5 ranked Bernie Truax - JR - 18-3 record for 2022 season at 184 lbs vs. Div. I wrestlers - Moving up one weight class according to this WrestleState projected lineup for Cal Poly for next season

285 - # 62 ranked Sam Aguilar - SR - 3-10 record for 2022 season at 285 lbs vs Div. I wrestlers

Just my opinion on this but I think Cal Poly would be better off is some of the lower weight class guys would drop down a weight - rather than having nearly all of the mid and upper weight class guys move up one or two weight classes.

Such as this for example:

125 - # 45 ranked Antonio Lorenzo - SO

133 - # 60 ranked (at 141 lbs) Lawrence Saenz - JR - He last competed at 133 lbs at the 2020 Big 12 championships

141 - # 10 ranked (at 149 lbs) Dominick Demas - SR - He competed in only 5 matches at 149 lbs but prior to that he competed at 141 lbs (aside from way back in 2018)

149 - # 15 ranked (at 165 lbs) Legend Lamer - SO ...........OR # 26 ranked (at 157 lbs) Luka Wick - RS FR

157 - # 15 ranked (at 165 lbs) Legend Lamer - SO ...........OR # 26 ranked (at 157 lbs) Luka Wick - RS FR

165 - # 98 ranked (at 174 lbs) Brawley Lamer - SR

174 - # 25 ranked (at 184 lbs) Adam Kemp - JR

184 - # 5 ranked (at 197 lbs) Bernie Truax - JR

197 - # 81 ranked Trent Tracy - JR

285 - # 62 ranked Sam Aguilar - SR

I have to say I'm not one much for weight cutting.  I know it is more regulated than in the past but still.

I don't see someone who has competed at 141 lbs for three of the last four seasons returning to that weight after one five match season at 149 lbs as "weight cutting".  I am of course referring to Demas here.   The reason why all of these Cal Poly guys are listed on the projected Cal Poly lineup as moving up one or two weight classes is because of the addition of Demas.   Demas wrestled somewhere in the neighborhood of 95 matches at 141 lbs between the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons.  Then wrestled 5 matches last season at 149 lbs.

Point being is If Demas is at 141 then either Legend Lamer OR Luka Wick can start at 149 lbs and whoever of those two doesn't can move up to 157 lbs.  The rest can pretty much stay at the weight they were at last season.

They also have Cash Stewart, a local kid from here in WI. Will be a freshman. Not a "blue-chip" recruit by any means so he probably won't even start but I'll be interested to see how he does.

I see where one of the posters on The Mat.com forum wrote this about Demas:

"He transferred because he didn't ever want to go 141 again... "

I frankly doubt that is the case because he could have stayed at Oklahoma and remained at 149 lbs.  If he had stayed at Oklahoma he would almost certainly have been their starter at 149 lbs.   So why transfer to Cal Poly when you very likely would have been Oklahoma's starter at 149 lbs for 2022-2023.

Maybe more ability to win in PAC 12 competition than in Big 12 competition.

According to the story found on the Cal Poly wrestling website at this link - [url][https://gopoly.com/news/2022/6/24/wrestling-seven-mustang-wrestlers-earn-preseason-ranking-from-intermat.aspx/url]

The Cal Poly lineup for 2022-2023 is going to probably be the following:

125 - Antonio Lorenzo
133 - Abe Hinrichsen
141 - Lawrence Saenz
149 - Dom Demas
157 - Luka Wick (this article first mentions him at 157 and then mistakenly lists him at 165)
165 - Legend Lamer
174 - No mention of Brawley Lamer or anyone else at 174 but I'd assume they will have Brawley Lamer at 174 lbs
184 - Adam Kemp
197 - Bernie Truax
285 - No mention of Sam Aguilar - According to this article the heavyweight for Cal Poly for 2023 will be either Trevor Tinker or Nathan Glass or Luke Meyer

Both of the Lamer brothers will therefore be moving up TWO weight classes.
