Has anyone had a grandmother they were close to?
« on: January 08, 2010, 06:44:49 PM »
Mine passed away last night.  She was 96.  Just wanted to share since the world just seems different without her.  She just lived such a long life and I guess I never really comprehended what her death would be like for me.  She never had any real health problems.  Just took a nap and her heart stopped.

Thanks!

Sorry, Trip.  Mine are both gone.  First one passed 4 years ago at 87, second one in Oct. at 93.  Losing a grandparent is hard....

Lost one when I was 18 and she was 63.  Lost Grandfather when I was 23 and he was 69.  Had a great grandmother live to be 97, and the other lived to be 100.  Losing a close relative is hard that is for sure, but to take a nap at 97 and not wake up is probably the best way to go.  Sorry for your loss.

Trip - I'm sorry for your loss. My grandmothers lived to 87 and 94 respectively. I understand the idea of having trouble envisioning life with out her.

Mine passed away about 3 years ago. It is so sad. My grandmother had alzheimers and it was said seeing how her personality just degressed to a lot of vacant stares and random responses. It is very sad just stay strong.

Lost both Grandfathers in the summer of 97.  Both Grandmother still kicking at 80 years a piece.  I guess I could say I am pretty close to both of them.

Sorry for your loss Trip.
